ویسے، Sildenafil اب بھی پلمونری ہائی بلڈ پریشر جیسی بیماریوں کے لیے استعمال ہوتا ہے، لیکن ان کی خوراک ویاگرا سے مختلف ہے۔

اچھی بات یہ ہے کہ ویاگرا کا ٹارگٹ PDE-5 انزائم جسم میں بہت سی دوسری جگہوں پر نہیں پایا جاتا، اس لیے ویاگرا نے ان مقاصد میں کوئی خاص نتائج نہیں دکھائے جن کے لیے اسے بنایا گیا تھا، اور اسی لیے آج ویاگرا پورے جسم میں vasodilation کا باعث بنتی ہے۔ یہ دباؤ کو کم نہیں کرتا ہے۔

But a very interesting side effect of this drug was observed, which was that taking this drug caused tension in men's penis which lasted for a long time. Due to its effect, this drug is popularly known as Viagra and is a multi-billion dollar business worldwide.

Nitric oxide is actually a chemical that is produced in the blood vessels and also comes from the nerves. Is. Therefore, an enzyme called PDE-5 is present in the muscle of the blood vessels to inhibit the action of nitric oxide.

Viagra contains a chemical called Sildenafil, which blocks the PDE-5 enzyme from working. This keeps the work of nitric oxide going and as a result dilates the blood vessels i.e. their volume increases.

Penile blood vessels as well as penile tissues have proliferative properties and their proliferation is controlled by this system of nitric oxide and PDE-5.

When sexual desire is aroused, nitric oxide from the nerves and bloodstream dilates the blood vessels and tissues of the penis, filling them with blood, which causes tension in the penis. Something like filling a balloon with air or water causes tension in the balloon.

When the sexual desire ends, the PDE-5 enzyme acts to stop the action of nitric oxide and the blood filled in the vessels and tissues also goes back and thus the stress is relieved.

But Viagra and other Sildenafil blocks the enzyme PDE-5 from working, making the stress last longer.

It should also be clear that Viagra does not induce any sexual desire by itself, it merely creates tension in the penis or prolongs the tension in the penis during sexual desire.

Well, Sildenafil is still used for diseases like pulmonary hypertension, but their dosage is different from Viagra.

The good thing is that Viagra's target PDE-5 enzyme is not found in many other places in the body, so Viagra did not show any special results in the purposes for which it was designed, and therefore today Viagra causes vasodilation throughout the body. It does not lower the pressure.
